Determining when it is time
Quality-of-Life Assessment
When gauging your pet's well-being, the unique characteristics of your pet and your family become pivotal in guiding a thoughtful, knowledgeable decision. This involves not only understanding your pet's medical condition but also becoming clear about how you want your pet and your pet’s loved-ones to experience their last days together. In essence, assessing the quality-of-life isn't confined to your pet alone; it extends to encompass the entire family.
Pre-Euthanasia Services Offered
Some pet-owners find it helpful to meet with a Peaceful Passing veterinarian either virtually or in-person before the scheduled euthanasia date. This consultation can often provide pet-owners with a greater sense of confidence in their ability to assess their pet’s quality-of-life and the timing of their euthanasia decision.

Is your pet nervous, anxious, or prone to reacting with mild aggression when scared? This conversation can help us to create a plan for the in-home end-of-life care visit to reduce stress.
We will briefly discuss a plan and will likely prescribe oral pre-medication(s) to give before the visit. Depending on the situation, medication(s) may be called into your regular clinic or a nearby human pharmacy.
*Although the prescription writing fee is covered, the cost of the medication(s) and the pharmacy/clinic dispensing fees are not included.

Peaceful Passing provides a virtual (Zoom or phone-based) quality-of-life discussion with pet-owners who are struggling with the decision to say goodbye. We will review previous medical records, listen to your concerns, and offer professional advice. This service is designed to help you make an informed decision about your pet’s end-of-life care. * We do not offer diagnostics/treatments based on our findings BUT we can offer a prescription for pre-euthanasia oral sedation if your pet would benefit from this.
